The neighborhood butcher opened a new store in Stratham.

Hundreds on Saturday came to the grand opening of The Meat House's newest comcept store in Stratham.

The Meat House had operated a counter inside in Exeter but closed up shop a few months ago to move to the full-service location on Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham next to a Rite Aid.

The new Stratham store highlights the company's extraordinary growth since it opened its first store in Portsmouth in 2003. The Meat House now operates 31 stores in 10 states.

In addition to meat like marinated steak tips and Bell & Evans chicken, the Stratham store has grocery items like fresh fruit and a diverse beer/wine selection. There's also day boat fresh seafood. About half of the products are from local vendors.

Saturday's grand opening featured a free BBQ, tastings, kid-friendly activities including face painting, a clown, a bounce house, raffles for local charities, and a DJ.
