Koch Brothers Biographer to Speak in Exeter Sept. 18

Author Daniel Schulman ("Sons of Wichita") on the men who have changed the face of American elections.

Daniel Schulman will give a free public lecture on his latest book, “Sons of Wichita: How the Koch Brothers Became America’s Most Powerful and Private Dynasty,” onThursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., at Christ Church Episcopal, located at 43 Pine St. in Exeter.

Schulman, a senior editor at Mother Jones Magazine, traces the complicated lives and legacies of all four Koch brothers, as well as their business, social, and political ambitions. Through their various PACs, including Americans for Prosperity, Charles and David Koch have spent hundreds of millions of dollars in recent American political campaigns, around the country and here in New Hampshire. Schulman has been featured on The Daily Show and NPR’s Fresh Air.

Schulman will be interviewed by William Jordan, chair of the History Department at Phillips Exeter Academy and author of Black Newspapers and America’s War for Democracy, 1914-1920.

Schulman’s talk is presented by We the People, a free lecture and film series exploring issues at the intersection of current events, ethics and religion. We the People is co-sponsored by the Congregational, Episcopal, and Unitarian Universalist churches of Exeter, in association with Phillips Exeter Academy and Water Street Bookstore. The talk will be held at Christ Church, which is handicapped-accessible. On-site parking is available.
