organization that develops informed, engaged, and active leaders in our communities, is hosting Leadership Seacoast Connections, a workshop specifically for Leadership Seacoast alumni interested in effective board leadership development.
The two-part series will be held on Tuesday, October 22, and Tuesday, November 5, 2013; both sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Community Campus in Portsmouth. The program is a unique opportunity for the more than 700 Leadership Seacoast alumni to learn and practice effective board leadership skills and explore nonprofit leadership opportunities in the Seacoast region.

The Leadership Seacoast Connections workshop will be facilitated by Jamie Batson and Ellen Koenig. Batson, an experienced nonprofit administrator, consultant and board member, was the founding director of Leadership Seacoast. Koenig is an expert in nonprofit management for the NH Center for Nonprofits and has served on numerous nonprofit boards.
“We are thrilled to be able to offer this exclusive opportunity to our alumni, many of whom have given so much to the organization and the community over the years,” said Leadership Seacoast Executive Director Jennifer Wheeler. “The interactive, multi-faceted and engaging program – made possible by a New Hampshire Charitable Foundation grant - is a missing piece for many Leadership Seacoast alumni who are interested in board leadership training and networking opportunities.”
One of the unique features of the program will be a Leadership Connection Fair presented by the United Way of the Greater Seacoast. During the Fair, regional nonprofits will be available to share information and meet potential volunteers and board members. The Fair will take place following the second installment of the Leadership Seacoast Connections on November 5, 2013, from 12:00 -1:00 p.m.
Registration for the Leadership Seacoast Connections workshop is now open. Because of a grant issued by the NH Charitable Foundation, Leadership Seacoast is able to offer this workshop to its alumni for only $50 per person—registration fee covers BOTH sessions, lunch each day, and entrance to the Leadership Connection Fair. Workshop space is limited. Interested Leadership Seacoast alumni can RSVP for the program at www.leadershipseacoast.org.
For 25 years, Leadership Seacoast has been helping its class members discover the issues and the interconnected nature of key issues affecting the cultural, social, political and economic lives of Seacoast residents. The program seeks to strengthen ties within the community by developing, knowledgeable and engaged leaders and thereby increasing civic engagement.
