'Lincoln Tusk' on Display at Exeter Library
The carving commemorates Abraham Lincoln's 1860 visit to Exeter.

An elephant tusk scrimshawed with an image of Abraham Lincoln to commemorate his 1860 visit to Exeter is now on display at the .
It was the idea of Bill Markey, a Newmarket resident who grew up in Exeter. The legal, two-foot tusk has been in his family for many years. Town officials for the project earlier this year.
The scrimshawing was done by Ron Soodalter, who serves on the board of directors of the Maryland-based Abraham Lincoln Institute.
