Live Shotgun Shell Found in Stratham School

Stratham, Exeter police search Cooperative Middle School for guns today.

Stratham Police officers were sent to the Cooperative Middle School earlier today for a report of a “live shot gun shell” that was found in the boys’ locker room, according to a report.

The school resource officer advised school staff about the shell and the building was put into lockdown, which is the school’s response plan.

School and police personnel, including Exeter Police, who were called to the scene to assist, began to investigate the incident and search the campus for anything abnormal while normal school activities continued.

“School staff and police personnel conducted numerous interviews and ultimately conducted a sweep of the building to include school staff checking all of the lockers in the school,” according to John Scippa, the chief of police in Stratham. “This was done to ensure that no firearms were in the school.”

No firearms were found in the school, according to police, and the lockdown was lifted at 1:25 p.m.
