McGill University And The Digital Education Dilemma

Like universities providing students with the opportunity to explore and make use of higher education opportunities they are constantly confronted with the fear of getting overthrown and obsolete in terms of the education that they provide because of the recent invasion of the Massive Open Online Courses or MOOCs that have invaded and taken over the educational world by storm.

It is undoubtedly true that with the advent of MOOCs, higher education has entered a completely new dimension and conventional tools and institutes of education that have so far enjoyed a pivotal position in the educational mainstream seems to be threatening and in a rather precarious position with online tools and resources becoming proactive in the development and structuring of their educational infrastructure,  primarily through the platform that has been provided by these massive open online courses.

Even though they are just an alternative of the different online courses that are offered by traditional universities, many of the so-called pioneers of higher education in different countries of the world seem to be confronted and literally challenged with the way these courses and their recent expansion is about to take the world.

As per the discussions that have taken place many of the legislators feel threatened by the fact that this form of online education will not press the core issues of education that are being faced by students on a massive scale in these times around the world in terms of either motivating them and investing greater level of effort through which they can excel and progress and excel in the field that they were working in.

Moreover, many of them are also of the opinion that this would simply jeopardize the entire relevancy that is related to the courses that are offered by many online universities.

In addition to this prominent reason due to which McGill University is currently refraining from adopting the digital innovations and advancements that are taking place around the globe is in the form of innovations will definitely have an impact on the future prospects and developments that will take place in the different mediums and regions offering online education.
