Memorial Service for Exeter Teacher Today

Jonathan Fischer taught Spanish.

A memorial service will be held today for Jonathan Fischer, a popular Exeter High School teacher who students railled around after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Fischer died Saturday after a six-month battle with the disease. He was 53 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at . A quiet revereance period starts at noon.

Fischer, of Barrington, leaves behind his wife, Ellen, according to his obituary.

Fischer taught Spanish at Exeter High. After his diagnosis, students railled behind him, holding several to help pay for his care.

"Jonathan was extraordinary for the many people he inspired and the lives he touched," his obituary reads. "His greatest gift was his ability to make people feel special by recognizing and celebrating their uniqueness."
