First, before I get started, I want to thank the doctors and nurses and physician’s assistants and all administrative and medical support staff who have been working so very hard to fight against the medical scourge of the Coronavirus, which is the great moral, physical and economic challenge of our time. The medical people in our community are keeping us going here in Exeter and across the State of New Hampshire during this World Wide Pandemic.

I also want to thank all of our police and firefighters who are always working to protect us. I want to thank our governor, you know him, he’s the guy giving the Coronavirus briefings on WMUR-TV via Facebook; our governor has been diligently and thoughtfully running the state government public health protection apparatus, without fanfare but in an upbeat manner that gives one confidence.

How will we defeat this Coronavirus? It will have to be a team effort.

We will defeat this virus because it is ultimately a medical problem that the American Scientific Community can handle. We will defeat it because we as Americans respect each other, and care about each other, enough to follow the social distancing rule and guidelines, and to avoid unnecessary health risks.

It is especially important for us to keep up with the good things in life, and to remember that there are good things in life. We can use social media, our cell phones, our computers, and our voices, to maintain contact with each other and to keep the lines of communication open.

It is important to do whatever exercise we can do, and to follow the complex and inscrutable process by which the New England Patriots will choose their next quarterback, to replace our Tom Brady, who is now gone, sadly, to Florida, but who will never be forgotten.

It is important for us to show our kids that America has survived difficult challenges in the past, very very difficult challenges, and that we can surely survive this.

So, let’s do it.
