Mirsky: I'm Sticking With My President

Not listening to the crazy tirade of fake news out there on 24/7 TV. No. I am supporting Joe Biden for President in 2024.

Several years ago I was fortunate enough to be chosen by a blog website called gather.com, to be one of several New Hampshire writers with political interests to become some of the very first people involved in the political blogging of some very important debates. The blogging enterprise was being encouraged by WMUR-TV and the Hearst Corporation. Hearst is a very large corporation and quite an irony for them to be involved in helping the commonfolk such as myself get involved in journalism on the blogging level; an irony because, as you may know, the great Orson Welles film, "Citizen Kane" was allegedly modeled after William Randolph Hearst, one of the great news moguls of the 20th Century. And in "Citizen Kane" the Orson Welles character was portrayed as having been willing to participate in actually starting a war in order to sell more newspapers.

So why am I getting into this discussion? It's because just before our gather.com group of bloggers began our most exciting task, that of blogging some important live TV political debates occurring in New Hampshire at Saint Anselm's College in June 2007, we were given a peptalk by an important fellow from the Hearst Corporation. This very serious and respectful man told our group of highly enthusiastic and well-informed bloggers that we were going to be making history, that we would be revolutionizing political news coverage in the United States. He told us we were being given the opportunity to substitute our own opinions of the Presidential candidates, as regular New Hampshire people, for the then-prevailing dominant corporate media coverage of such important political matters as the New Hampshire Presidential Primary by the likes of so-called "professional" news people.

Well, the blogging revolution actually did get going back then, but the lofty goal of giving the people a voice in American politics has apparently not really worked. I say this as I've been watching over the past week as so-called insiders at TV news networks like CNN, MSNBC, FOXNews, NBC News, ABC News, and newspapers like The New York Times, and the like, have been literally deluging us real people who actually love and revere our President, Joe Biden, with so-called "expert" opinions that what is needed in this crucial moment in American history is for our successful, steady, always-well-intentioned US President to quit his current campaign for re-election. So I guess the Hearst Corporation did not try hard enough; what they apparently needed to do back in June 2007 would have been to enlist a mob of millions of regular people with regular daily TV shows, taking place in the prime time news slots, so that the regular people could voice their opinions and not be told by CNN and the New York Times that the best way to protect US democracy is to give the choice of our next President over completely to the national news media.

I say BUNK to that! So yesterday, July 18, 2024, I got together as much pro-Joe Biden material as I could muster, stood out on my front lawn, and posed for the picture you see here in this article.

My message is this: I'm Sticking With My President!!! And my President, my favorite US President ever, is Joe Biden.
