Mirsky: The Truth About Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump

This year's Presidential election season is almost over, thankfully. We need this to be over because Republican Nominee for President Donald Trump, sensing the looming possibility of defeat, appears to have nothing constructive to say and now wants only to destroy confidence in the U.S. political process. Since Trump was not able to rig the system in his favor he would prefer to destroy it.

We have been dealing with Donald Trump as a candidate for President all this time because our system allows a person with access to money, and nothing better to do, to devote full time to the potentially unproductive task of running for elective office. In Trump's case, he was only able to run for President in the first place because he has obtained a large amount of money by manipulating the bankruptcy laws. Now there is nothing wrong with using the bankruptcy laws to protect yourself when your business has gone sour, but that does not mean that a person is necessarily good at running a business. It might mean the opposite.

Expertise in the art of going broke isn't exactly what this country needs right now, but I will give Trump credit for managing to create the illusion around himself that somehow he has known what he was doing.

Just remember that with Donald Trump, what might have looked good to you before has now clearly turned out to be a complete illusion. There is just something there that we all don't want. Some of that came out on the Access Hollywood video, but it has been out there for a long time now, the man just does not belong in public life.

Getting back to what this country needs right now. Clearly what we need is affordable higher education and job training. We need job creation that is adapted to the new digital world in which we live. We need safety and security. We need our elected officials to do their jobs quietly and effectively.

Now I have heard a lot of wrong things said in the past two years about the Democratic Nominee for President in 2016, Hillary Clinton. I am going to fix that right now.

First, Hillary Clinton has been completely consistent and reliable for the past 30 or 40 years about what she stands for. In fact, it's obvious: Hillary Clinton stands for improving the quality of life in America, by empowering all women, by providing necessary resources and legal protection to all children. These are the causes that Hillary Clinton stands for.

And, of course, Hillary Clinton and her husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, had 8 years in the White House and they know very clearly and without the need to consult any expert that you can't provide an improved quality of life in America without growing our economy and protecting our people with a strong and effective national defense.

So we will get economic growth and safety at home with Hillary Clinton in the White House.

So don't tell me you don't have a good reason to go to your polling place and vote on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The reasons to vote for President this year are undeniably clear.
