Mirsky: Uplifting Hillary Event in Portsmouth Church

Positive message from Hillary Clinton at Town Hall Meeting in Portsmouth.

I was lucky enough to see former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Town Hall meeting yesterday, December 29, 2015, at the magnificent South Church on State Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. There was an overflow crowd of hearty Hillary Clinton supporters in attendance. I say ”hearty” because yesterday in New Hampshire we had our first snowstorm of the season, the roads were very icy, and that didn’t keep a large crowd from attending.

Former New Hampshire Speaker of the House of Representatives Terie Norelli gave a rousing introduction. Speaker Norelli’s speech was so inspiring, it made me hope that she will run for office again in the near future. Perhaps for Governor of New Hampshire?

Hillary Clinton’s speech and interaction with the audience at South Church was an uplifting, and positive experience. While other candidates seek to invoke chaos and fear, Hillary Clinton talks about issues of real importance such as addressing the problem of Alzheimer’s Disease, which was a focus of her presentation.

In her town hall meetings in New Hampshire, Hillary Clinton focuses on real issues that matter to real people, and she did so yesterday in Portsmouth. Ms. Clinton talked most passionately about gun safety, and also discussed the need for our health care system to provide better and more accessible mental health care, the need for income equality for women, and the need for economic growth (which was a great achievement of Bill Clinton’s presidency, in which Ms. Clinton was a key player).

Also, Hillary Clinton spoke forcefully on the need for improvement of our education loan system so that our young people and families will not face the prospect of serious financial debt in considering post-high school educational options.

Overall, Hillary Clinton’s town hall meeting in Portsmouth on December 29, 2015, was an uplifting positive event that made one forget about the ridiculous things that have been going on with other candidates for president in 2016.

Maybe 2016 will be a better year for politics.
