New Eatery Opening Soon at Old Friendly's Building

Mexico Lindo will have an outdoor patio.

A new Mexican restaurant will open soon at the old Friendly's building on Portsmouth Avenue.

Mexico Lindo, a family-owned restaurant, is scheduled to open before the end of the month, according to Pedro Augirre, a manager.

"We are an authentic Mexican restaurant," Augirre said. "The recipes are passed down from my grandma."

In addition to tacos and burritos, the eatery will have tamales and mole poblano, among other dishes.

The building was gutted, Augirre said, and an outdoor patio is being installed.

Mexico Lindo is at 72 Portsmouth Ave.—less than a half-mile from Margaritas and Las Olas, two other Mexican-themed restaurants.

Augirre said his restaurant will focus on quality, homemade food at a fair price, along with good service and cleanliness. He said there will be about 10 employees.

The Exeter Friendly's closed in January after the company reportedly suffered from rising operating costs, among other factors.
