New Hampshire SPCA Announces 4thAnnual Doggie Paddle Plunge!

The New Hampshire SPCA is delighted to announce the 4th Annual Doggie Paddle Plunge to benefit the animals in its care.    Participants in this event raise critically needed funds by asking friends, family, etc. to support their jumping into the icy Atlantic Ocean on February 22!   All are invited to visit our website at www.nhspca.org to register to Freeze Their Tails Off, for the animals.  This is definitely an event for the big hearted, and not the faint of heart!

The New Hampshire SPCA’s 4th Annual Doggie Paddle Plunge will be held on February 22nd, 2014, at Great Island Common in Newcastle, NH. Participants will gather on the beach and then run full speed ahead into the frosty Atlantic Ocean to show their support for the animals cared for by the New Hampshire SPCA, over 2,500 each and every year.

Registration for the event includes pre-plunge coffee and light breakfast as well as a post-plunge warm lunch in-doors, at the Recreation Building at Great Island Common.  We are also thrilled to welcome back our presenting sponsor, Jackson Lewis, LLC, and thank them for their continued support.  We would also like to thank The Big Bean of Newmarket and Me & Ollie’s for generously providing breakfast and lunch for the plungers!  Those interested are encouraged to pre-register at www.nhspca.org and start raising funds today! This is a plunge for people; participants are asked to leave their animals at home. Our fundraising goal for this event is $20,000. Prizes will be awarded based on fundraising level, those raising $150 will receive a specially designed long sleeved t-shirt and for $500 they will receive a fleece jacket, both will be emblazoned with the words “I Froze My Tail Off  For The Animals”!  There is also a prize for the most overall fundraising and for Best Costume.

“The Plunge is quickly becoming one of our more popular events!  It is so much fun and definitely a ‘bucket list’ item for many.  But once they’ve done it once, many come back year after year.  We are so grateful for their unique support for the animals and encourage others to join the fun”, said Sheila Ryan, Director of Development and Marketing for the New Hampshire SPCA.

We invite the community to join us in our efforts by either committing to take the plunge or making a donation in support of one of our plungers. Want to stay dry? Register as a virtual plunger and fundraise from the comfort of your home! Every person, every pledge, no matter the size is appreciated. Funds raised will help the New Hampshire SPCA continue its lifesaving mission.
