To celebrate the release, the museum will hold an "Independence Ale Trail" in May where people can taste the beer. There will be several other local events to celebrate the beer's release, with some proceeds benefitting the museum.
Redhook said it was inspired to create the beer based on colonial history. Leading up to the American Revolution, colonists were frustrated over the high taxes placed on imported ale, so they began brewing beer in their homes.

The beer is described as a "crisp, refreshing" American Pale Ale using locally grown and malted barley and hops. Local wheat is used in it, and it has Simcoe, Zeus, and Nugget hops.
Julie Tiebout, marketing director for the museum, said she was confident it will taste great.
