Newmarket Man Arrested for Stealing Donation Can
Tips from the public led to arrest, according to police.

Police in Stratham believe they have the person responsible for stealing an Annie Angels donation can from a local gas station on Sept. 21.
Jason Lear, 38, of Newmarket, was arrested today and charged with theft and breach of bail. He’s being held on $1,000 cash bail. Lear is due to be arraigned in 10th Circuit Court in Brentwood on Oct. 9.
According to the Stratham Police, the Newmarket Police assisted with the investigation and tips from people after the story made statewide news, certainly helped in catching Lear.

“The Stratham Police Department would also like to thank members of the public that provided information about the suspect in response to the surveillance photo being published,” Chief John Scippa of the department stated in a press release. “The information provided by the public, in response to our releasing the surveillance photo, played a major role in helping us identify the suspect in this case.”
According to online records, Lear has been arrested before by the Newmarket Police Department.
