Newmarket Residents Apathy Sends Wrong Message

Newmarket School District Concerns:

Over the past several years I have been attempting to show the residents of Newmarket that the biggest concerns facing the school district are the unethical and illegal actions of the school board, school clerk and superintendent.

I was wrong. The biggest concern facing the Newmarket School District is the people of Newmarket themselves.

While the people of Newmarket are more than willing to blame and hold accountable the superintendent of schools (a town outsider), they refuse to hold their fellow residents who serve in positions of trust: members of the school board and school clerk to the same standard.

School board members Kenison, McKinney, and Shelton, along with school district clerk Penney Botterman, have all violated their oaths of office and acted unethically, costing the district tens of thousands of dollars, yet, the residents remain silent.

The messages conveyed by this apathy on the part of the town residents will have deleterious consequences for the town for many years.

The message to the town’s students is straight forward: perjury, obstruction of justice, falsification are all OK as long as you are one of us.

Going forward, I strongly suggest any future superintendent of schools for Newmarket is one of their own. I cannot imagine any outsider ever wanting to work in such an apathetic community.
