NH Representative Michael Cahill Commits Crime: Must Resign!

NH Representative Michael Cahill abused his position when he filed a false police report with the Newmarket Police Department on behalf of the Newmarket School District and Town of Newmarket in an attempt to silence Right-to-Know advocate Jeffrey Clay and to influence Police Chief Greg Jordan’s investigation into crimes committed by school district officials.

In September 2021, Rep. Cahill filed criminal allegations with the NH Attorney General’s office and Newmarket Police Dept., accusing Right-to-Know advocate Jeffrey Thomas Clay (me) of extortion, threatening public officials, and harassment. No charges from these allegations have ever been brought. This is true because Cahill’s allegations were untrue and motivated by bad faith.

Cahill revealed his true motives in filing his false criminal allegations against Clay in an email to the Attorney General, where he wrote: “ Should he (Clay) be arrested and charged with extortion, this might alter his behavior going forward, and at a minimum, provide a location where he could be served papers.”

Cahill’s allegations stem from ongoing legal battles between Clay and the Newmarket School District in which Clay has filed numerous criminal allegations against school district officials, including former superintendents Merideth Nadeau and Susan Givens, as well as school district attorney Barbara Loughman and former school board members Al Zink and Kim Shelton.

The allegations against Newmarket officials filed by Clay include extortion, falsification of public records, perjury, fraud, bribery, and other crimes. Numerous allegations against Newmarket school district officials and educators were also filed by Clay with the NH State Board of Education alleging violations of the NH Educator Code of Conduct.

In response to these criminal allegations, Newmarket public officials, including Representative Cahill, have engaged in unethical and immoral acts of trying to have Clay silenced. This tactic will not work. New criminal allegations have been filed against Cahill, school district attorney Barbara Loughmanand others for making these false claims to law enforcement.

Facts matter! Truth matters! Newmarket school officials and their attorneys have engaged in criminal, unethical, and immoral acts designed to protect each other from criminal prosecution. Now they have chosen to file false police reports to silence their accuser. This type of public corruption cannot be condoned or accepted as the standard operating procedure for government officials.

Excerpts from emails sent by Cahill to the AG and Chief Jordan:

“I understand the department is aware of Mr. Clay’s actions and the impact on the school administration. I don't know if you were involved but I am told this was viewed as harassment when I think his demands and threatened actions to fill his bank account are extortion.”

“Using the RTK requests to us with stress and expense, Mr. Clay is trying to coerce the board into paying him money and or release him from paying us money that the courts awarded Newmarket from his last court case against our attorney, the superintendent, and the board.”

“I think this goes beyond RTK which is his method and to the criminal act of extortion. Should he be arrested and charged with extortion, this might alter his behavior going forward and at a minimum provide a location where he could be served papers.”

[Clay] “Has harassed Newmarket and Dover school administrators with Right-to-Know requests for several years. He has added demands for substantial settlements with the threat of new filings suggesting that the cost of staff time and legal fees will be high. This is an abuse of the which was to ensure the public access to information on how the government spends taxpayer dollars and makes decisions.”

“Our Right-to-Know provides the public with information but Clay and others have abused the law to punish and harass in ways that were not anticipated. I don’t know that the Legislature can correct this without denying someone’s legitimate request. We are having trouble here with people disrupting meetings They are being trained and encouraged to do this.”

As we can all see for ourselves, Mr. Cahill is no friend of RSA 91-A (RTK) and has no respect for truth or justice and I am calling upon him to resign immediately from public office.
