Past Weekend Busiest Ever at Hampton Toll Plaza

This past weekend, from Aug. 16 to Aug. 18, was the busiest traffic weekend ever at the Hampton toll plaza, according to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

A total of 326,880 vehicles passed through the plaza over the three-day period, according to the NHDOT, beating the previous high of 325,558 set during the first weekend in August in 2007. Traffic each of the three days at Hampton reached roughly 109,000 – the sixth, seventh and ninth highest daily traffic volumes ever recorded at the toll plaza.

Of the 326,880 vehicles that passed through the Hampton tolls, more than 205,000, or 63 percent, used the Open Road Tolling lanes, NHDOT said. Ninety-nine percent of vehicles with E-ZPass transponders used the ORT lanes, with only 1 percent going through the cash plaza area.

Traffic was reported as being heavy all weekend, but no major issues were noted by the shift leaders at the Hampton plaza.
