NH Peanut Butter Recall Expands

Sunland Inc., which manufactures and packages Trader Joe's products has recalled its own line of nut butters.

A New Mexico peanut butter manufacturer has issued a voluntary recall of its extensive line of nut butters due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Sunland Inc. has pulled its line of Almond Butter and Peanut Butter products,
manufactured between May 1, 2012 and September 24, 2012. Sunland exclusively uses Valencia peanuts for it's products, a type of legume grown almost exclusively in eastern New Mexico. According to the company website, 90 percent of the Valencia peanuts produced in the U.S. are grown within 120 miles of their plant.

The recall follows an announcement last week by Trader Joe's that they were recalling its Valencia Peanut Butter products, which is manufactured and packaged at the Sunland Inc. plant.
