Police Investigating Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrian

The pedestrian was struck in Kingston Road after leaving his vehicle when it slid off the road.

EXETER -- Interim Chief William Shupe reports that the Exeter Police Department is investigating a “serious motor vehicle crash” that occurred on the morning of Feb. 6, 2016.

Exeter Police and Fire responded to a location on Kingston Road at 8:36 a.m. Friday for a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

Upon arrival, rescuers found that a 33-year-old Exeter man had been struck by by a 1999 Lexus RX300.

An investigation indicates that the victim was driving his 2003 Dodge 2500 pickup truck when he lost control, slid, and struck a utility pole. While outside of his vehicle, the Lexus, driven by a 34-year-old Exeter man, also slid off the road in nearly the same spot and struck the man.

The first driver was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The second driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Exeter Police Department.
