Portsmouth Chef and Farm Bring Taco Tuesday to Newfields

NEWFIELDS__Chef David Vargas is coming to Vernon Family Farm on Tuesday, June 16 to prepare locally sourced tacos, which can be ordered that day or online for curbside pick-up.

Vargas, who is the chef/owner of Vida Cantina in Portsmouth, first teamed up with the local farm on Taco Tuesdays last summer. Using local ingredients, he will create both meat and vegetarian taco options, served up in homemade heritage corn tortillas. The dinners will also include Charred Broccoli Salad, Spanish Rice, Chips, Salsa, and a Mexican Chocolate Brownie.

Vargas, a James Beard nominated chef, has received accolades for his appreciation of incorporating local seasonal New England products into his cooking. According to The Boston Globe, he prepares “the best Mexican food north of the MA Border” and is “nearly evangelistic about using local ingredients.”

Vernon Family Farm’s on-site store also carries Vargas’s Vida Tortilla brand corn tortillas, frozen enchilada dinners, and freshly squeezed juices.
