Pro Bike Race in Exeter Tonight

It starts at 6:05 p.m.

A USA Cycling professional bike race will be held in Exeter tonight.

The 30th annual Exeter Classic Criterium begins at 6:05 p.m. Downtown streets will be closed for the race.

A criterium is a fast-paced race around a short course with multiple laps. The course tonight will be a roughly mile-long loop that starts at and winds past and . At right, check out our video of last year's race.

Swasey Parkway and parts of Water Street and Front Street will be closed to traffic.

The 40+ age group starts at 6:05 p.m. The professional group race starts at 7 p.m. A maximum of 250 cyclists is expected.

There's a first-place cash prize of $1,500. Proceeds from the race will go to University of New Hampshire scholarships.

The race is sponsored by Redhook, Exeter Hospital, and Unitil.

Redhook will be serving up its new Exeter-inspired beer at the during the race.
