READ THE DOCUMENTS: Petition Proves Unitil Is Willing to Repay Senior Citizens, Company Says

Unitil says it is following the correct regulatory process to repay overcharged senior citizens.

Unitil, which was sued by RiverWoods for overcharging senior citizens nearly $2 million in electricity, filed paperwork with a state agency that the company said proves it is willing to repay the money.

In the suit, the RiverWoods senior housing complex said Unitil has repaid about a third of the money but is dragging its feet on repaying the rest. Unitil spokesman Alec O'Meara said the company is following the correct regulatory process to make sure it is complying with state laws.

Unitil filed a petition with the state Public Utilies Commission for advice and approval to repay the rest of the money. The petition can be found above.
