Report: Hospital, Sheriffs Looking to Improve Inmate Restraints

Overview comes after a prisoner escaped from Exeter Hospital last month.

Rockingham County Sheriffs are looking to improve hospital and public safety after an inmate accessing treatment at a local hospital was able to escape during an X-Ray, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Last month, Tyler Beliveau was able to flee from Exeter Hospital after his leg shackles and handcuffs were removed in order to perform the procedure. He later left the room, running barefoot through the hospital, to a plow truck outside that he used to drive away from the area. Police later caught up to him after he crashed on North Road in East Kingston.

The department is now looking for other ways to restrain inmates, like using plastic clips, while they are in the hospital.
