Santa’s Elves Delivering Love On Christmas Day

The New Hampshire SPCA has lined up elves to deliver pets in need of homes this holiday season.

STRATHAM, NH — The New Hampshire SPCA staff has, once again, been recruited as honorary elves to work for Santa this Christmas. The Elves will be delivering new pets to local families on Christmas morning. Adoptions beginning on Dec. 22, 2016, are eligible for elf delivery on Christmas Day.

Working for the “Big Man” has become a Christmas tradition for the NHSPCA Adoption Staff, who have delivered newly adopted pets to families these past two years, just in time, according to a press statement.

“When our van arrives on Christmas morning with elves delivering new pets and an official note from Santa, the response is overwhelming! Everything from disbelief to screams and tears of joy,” said Lisa Dennison, the executive director of the New Hampshire SPCA. “The deliveries really make the holiday special for some very excited children, adults and even for our staff.”

Beginning, Thursday, Dec. 22, through Saturday, Dec. 24, adopters will have the option of bringing home their new family member as usual, or having our elves deliver on Christmas morning. The shelter will also be open by appointment on Christmas morning to allow for picking up previously adopted animals. The staff will deliver animals to their new home, not by sleigh, but in the NHSPCA Rescue Vehicle, to towns near its Stratham shelter. The elves will be adorned appropriately with Elf Costume, a Santa gift pack for their pet, and a scroll from St. Nick himself.

“There is truly no better, or more memorable gift, if a family is ready for a new pet,” said Dennison. “All of our customary adoption procedures still apply, but if a parent wants Santa to bring a new pet to their child, or a husband for a wife, etc., making their holiday dreams come true, we want to help if we can.”

Space is also limited. So if you want Santa’s NHSPCA elves to deliver your new furry family member, act quickly.

We want to make sure a new pet’s homecoming is as wonderful as possible, so only those animals that we believe would do well with this entry into a home are eligible. Cats or dogs that are particularly shy or frightened would not be likely candidates to make a smooth transition this way.

There will be a fee assessed for this service.
