School Board May Address Teacher Controversy

The local School Board on Tuesday night may address a scandal that resulted in the resignation of three Exeter High School teachers.

Police said they are investigating the possibility that a female student was sexually assaulted. They have not issued any charges so far.

The teachers resigned after they were allegedly involved in writing a sexually explicit screenplay. The link between the screenplay and the alleged sexual assault is unclear. Police have declined to release further details, citing the ongoing investigation.

Police have said they are looking for other potential victims and urged them to contact authorities.

The School Board is meeting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the high school.

Below is a statement Morgan released on the case:

As you may be aware, Exeter High School has been the focus of current news reports regarding the alleged unprofessional conduct of three faculty members.

Protocol mandates that investigation information be shared with the New Hampshire Department of Education and local law enforcement officials.  That has been done and those agencies are conducting their own investigations in these reported matters.

As part of the SAU investigation an original screenplay was discovered.

Reportedly this manuscript has been shared with the media and may be viewed by some as controversial. You may hear more about this matter which I am not at liberty to discuss at this time.

Although this is an ongoing, confidential, personnel investigation, please be assured SAU officials will make every effort to provide accurate information when possible.

The safety and security of our students is always a top priority and I can assure you that our school community members are safe.
