Speeding on Route 125 Leads to Route 101 Pursuit, Crash: NHSP
UPDATE: 3 were injured today after an assault suspect refused to stop for staties. K-9 unit unable to find driver after crash near I-93.
MANCHESTER, NH — New Hampshire State Police troopers are actively hunting for a man with an active second-degree felony assault warrant who allegedly attempted to evade police and fled the scene of a crash early this morning in the central part of the state, according to a press alert. The incident began at around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2016, after Epping Police attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Route 125, according to state police.
A trooper attempted to assist at the scene and while running the driver’s license, they learned that David Cherry, 28, of Manchester, had an active warrant for a second-degree felony warrant out of Manchester.

Police confirmed the warrant and then attempted to get the driver out of the vehicle when he allegedly drove off and onto Route 101 west, according to Sgt. James Steinmetz of the NHSP.

The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle again but was unable to and a pursuit ensued through multiple towns.
“Troopers from Troop B set up spike strips near Exit 1 on 101 and were able to puncture one of the vehicle’s tires,” according to Steinmetz. “The vehicle continued on I-93 northbound where it got off Exit 8. The vehicle made a left turn at the bottom of the off-ramp and drove in the opposing lane where it struck another vehicle.”
A K-9 unit was called in after the driver allegedly fled the crash scene but they were unable to find the driver though, according to Steinmetz.
Three people – two from the suspect’s vehicle and a passenger in the vehicle that was struck – were all transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, Steinmetz noted.
State police did not release the name of the man they are hunting for at post time but are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Trooper George Sanborn at 603-679-3333.
