Stratham To Celebrate National Library Week with Special Events

Amid funding cuts threatening libraries, now is the time to celebrate all that libraries do for their communities!

STRATHAM, NH-- First celebrated in 1958, National Library Week is a celebration of libraries of all kinds, all across the country. This year, National Library Week runs April 6 through April 12, while at the same time, significant funding cuts are being enacted at the state and federal levels.

National Library Week is the time to pause, appreciate, and celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. We invite the community to join the celebration here in Stratham. Whether you're a longtime patron or haven’t visited in a while, it's the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer.

Monday 4/7
"Read Freely" Day: Take home a book that has been banned or challenged and celebrate your freedom to read whatever you like! You might be surprised how many classics were, at one time, controversial. Also, join us via Zoom at 7PM for "Behind The Headlines: Understanding Bird Flu" with Massachusetts State Epidemiologist Dr. Catherine Brown.

National Library Workers Day. Thank a librarian today!

Wednesday 4/9
Library Outreach Day: Enjoy free coffee and pastries at 10AM, courtesy of the WML Trustees. Then join our book club discussion at 4PM, where we will share our favorite books about books and libraries!

Thursday 4/10
Take Action for Libraries Day: Meet representatives from the trustees and the Friends of the Library at 2PM to see how you can help support their fundraising efforts. You may also use this opportunity to contact your elected officials at the local, state, and regional levels to express your support for restoring and protecting library funding.

Friday 4/11

At 5:30PM, join us for a special Friday night NH Trivia with Rebecca Rule! Build a team of up to 4 and be ready to laugh as you learn all about the Granite State. Copies of her new book, New Hampshire Trivia, will also be for sale after the event.
