Teen Wins Exeter Hospital Criterium

A teenager beat out a field of experienced riders in the Exeter Hospital Criterium bike race tonight.

Luke Keough, 19, of Sandwich, Mass. won despite a close call on the last turn. His foot slipped out of his pedal strap, but he was able to recover and power across the finish line.

Keough beat out a field of about 100 riders.

This was the 29th annual running of the criterium.

A criterium is a fast-paced race around a short course with multiple laps. The course tonight was a roughly mile-long loop that started at Town Hall and winded about a mile past and .

Mark McCormack, of North Easton, Mass., won the over 40 age group race.
