The Alzheimer's - Diabetes Connection

According to an article in Men's Journal Dec 2012/2013, a growing number of srudies suggest that Alzheimer's may not be a hereditary disease, as thought, but a new type 3 diabetes, brought on ny poor diet, lack of exercise, and weight gain.  A potential third kind would be in addition to type 1, or juvenile diabetes, which is a congenital disorder, and type 2, or adult-onset diabetes, which is caused by high blood sugar, often from eating too any processed foods, being overweight, and getting little exercise.  Researchers beleive that having high blood sugar may also cause Alzheimer's by incresing levels of the hormone insulin, which can damage blood vessels and lower brain circulation, leading to the cognitivie disorder.  More studies are needed to determine if the disease is, in fact, a form of diabetes.
