Vernon Family Farm Announces Fill the Freezer Meat Options

NEWFIELDS__Vernon Family Farm is offering customers the ability to buy larger quantities of locally raised pastured meat this fall to fill their freezer for winter.

Options include a whole VFF lamb, VFF chicken boxes, or a half pig option, through a collaboration with Roaming Acres Farm. They are also accepting deposits for fresh pastured Thanksgiving turkeys thanks to the third year of working with Hurd Farm in Hampton.

“You may never have considered doing something like buying a whole animal, it may sound intimidating,” said Nicole Vernon. “But buying meat in bulk means saving time and money. It also means you know exactly where your meat came from.”

A chicken box will include, 10 pounds each of the following boneless breast, boneless thigh, drumsticks, leg quarters, wings, ground chicken, bones, assorted chicken sausage, 10 whole birds (broilers), 5 foundation broths, 2 chicken pot pies, and 5 chicken soups.

A whole lamb may include the following, leg roast, leg steak, organs, riblets, shoulder chops, shank, spareribs, rib chop, loin chop, loin roast, stew/kabob, ground meat, and a tanned sheepskin. A half pig may include a boneless butt roast, pork loin, chop, sirloins, rack of spareribs, smoked ham, bacon, sausage, ground pork, back fat, and leaf lard.
