Vernon Family Farm Hosts Art and Cooking Classes for Kids This Summer

Newfields Farm Invites Kids to Learn on the Farm

NEWFIELDS__Vernon Family Farm is offering a series of art and cooking classes for kids this summer featuring Misa’s Clean Kitchen and art teacher Dawn Rezendes.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Misa and Dawn this summer at the farm,” said Nicole Vernon, who owns the farm with her husband, Jeremiah. “The experiences that children in our community can gain from classes like these at the farm, outdoors, featuring local food and farm inspired creations is so valuable and we love welcoming community members to the farm."

Misa Brautigam Pignataro, of Misa’s Clean Kitchen, is a certified health coach, an educator with a master’s degree in early childhood education and a mom of two young girls. She is passionate about helping busy families create healthy eating habits in a highly processed, fast-food world.

Her next cooking class for kids on July 6 is called Monster Smoothie Bowls.

“I love working with children and families, showing them that whole foods can be healthy AND taste delicious,” she said. “A few small steps can make a big impact on your family’s health. My mission is to help shape our children’s tastes one bite at a time so we can set our children up for a lifetime of health and happiness.”

Dawn Rezendes, a retired art teacher of 30 years, loves collaborating on art and working with children.

“Vernon Family Farm has given me numerous opportunities to share my art. You will see it in multiple forms around the farm on signs,” she said. “My wife Nancy, and my daughter Liv are often my co-conspirators on projects. I have three children and two identical twin grandchildren who keep me busy when I am not in the studio, out in nature or taking trips to exotic destinations.”

Art classes are planned for July 12, July 14, July 18, July 20, August 9, August 16, and August 18.

Workshops will have different themes and each workshop will give students a chance to explore a wide range of media including, collage, painting, drawing, watercolor and more, with a farm theme. Class size is limited to 12 to allow for individualized instruction and all materials are included in the class fee.

Please check to see that your schedule allows you to attend the class because it is non-refundable. Each class requires provisions that are ordered prior to each session. Sign up will close two days prior to the date of the workshop.
