Vernon Family Farm Hosts Shop Local Thanksgiving

NEWFIELDS__Vernon Family Farm is hosting a special Shop Local for Thanksgiving event from Nov. 23 through Nov. 27.

During the shop local Thanksgiving, customers will receive a 5 percent discount on purchases of $200 or more. “This is our way of saying thank you and we are so grateful for your community support of the farm and our farm store,” said owner Nicole Vernon. “A big part of what attracted us to the town of Newfields when we first started farming was the ability for our farm to truly be part of the community. What better way to appreciate the harvest on Thanksgiving than by using food that’s grown and raised locally.”
Vernon Family Farm has partnered with the Hurd Farm in Hampton to offer fresh pasture raised turkeys this Thanksgiving. These need to be pre-ordered by Monday, Nov 25 and can be picked up on Tuesday-Wednesday, Nov. 26 and 27. The farm works to find the size turkey that best fits the needs customers describe on their order.
Vernon Family Farm is unique in that their recently renovated farm store is open year-round. In preparation for Thanksgiving meals, the farm has bolstered stocks of onions, garlic, pumpkins, numerous varieties of squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, beets and carrots. They also sell cream, milk, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, spices and fermented food.
“Our store doesn’t close for the winter, so shopping for local food doesn’t have to stop with the start of winter,” Vernon said. “Not only do we have turkeys, but other holiday roasts like grass fed beef, pastured pork and bone in ham.”
Vernon Family Farm will also have an array of homemade pies, eggs, and apples for holiday meals.
