'Votes for Women Display' at Exeter Public Library

Pick-up absentee ballot application while there.

"Rightfully Hers" display at Exeter NH Public Library Aug 15-30, 2020 (RM Allen)

While researching for historical-fiction book #3, to be set in Suffragette-era Exeter, I came across a way to obtain this #RightfullyHers display from the US National Archives. It will travel around town for a while, but the first stop is the Exeter Public Library NH. Pictured is local author, RM Allen, (that's me!) sporting her home-made yellow mask with the honeybees, and first time voter, Emily (who works at the library), standing along side the very informative display.

Come in and take a look at this display that celebrates 100 years of the 19th Amendment. We put it right next to the table where the applications for the NH Absentee Ballots (primary in Sept) are located. Let's take voting to the next level. Get yours now!

Procedure: If you don't feel comfortable going into the Talbot Gym to vote this September, or don't have a printer, then stop into the library during off-hours (or the town hall) and pick up your absentee application. (Covid anxiety is very recently included under the "disability" reason.) You can then mail it to the Town Hall and they will mail you an actual ballot. Alternatively, if you want to avoid the mail, you can drop off this application at the Exeter Town Hall/Clerk and pick up your ballot then. Do this sooner rather than later!

About the books - I am writing a trilogy of small mysteries that highlights the historical Black community of Exeter. The first two books in the Exeter trilogy are now at Water Street Bookstore "Incident at Exeter Tavern" set in Revolutionary-era Exeter, and "Incident at Ioka" set in Abolitionist-era Exeter. Or on Amazon/Kindle. (Book #3 in 2021.) All profits to be donated to a physical commemoration of Black Exeter.

Thanks for your support!
