This Weekend, Saturday Morning 10:30 AM, It's Time for "No Kings"

This is your intrepid political observer, not quite a journalist but I'm trying, taking a course at NYU on Modern Journalism. I thought I'd get started on the class work by writing this article to explain myself. I usually write about the upcoming Presidential Election at any given time, from the perspective of a New Hampshire political activist who knows a few things about the political goings-on in our State and Town (only a few things).

I'm getting ready to post a big Mirsky's List article, in which I single out and highlight two or more politicians who have visited our State in hopes of running for President in the next big election, which is currently set to occur in 2028.

But that article will be completed and posted a few days hence (always wanted to say "hence" and now I can), on March 31, 2026. For now I'm writing about something else: It's a big nationwide protest that will also be occurring in our beautiful State of New Hampshire tomorrow, Saturday, March 28, 2026. It's called, "NO KINGS". Now one may wonder why an event would be called "NO KINGS" since this is the good ole United States of American, founded on throwing the King of England's tea in the Boston Harbor on a quiet night at the dawn of the American Revolution. We obviously have no King here. But there are those who are making strange noises about having elections where nobody is allowed to vote by mail, and then going ahead himself and voting by mail, you know who I'm discussing here. The name eludes me at the moment. I know he's not a King but would apparently like to play one on television.

There's a group in town that I'm nominally a part of called the Exeter Democrats. I say nominally because I'm not a candidate for anything and I have no say in anything they do, but there it is. I'm in that group, on Facebook and via email, so keep that in mind when you are reading this. You may prefer to read something printed somewhere else.

I've been invited to attend tomorrow's "NO KINGS" event in Exeter, and I think there will be many such events all around the country tomorrow. I'm aware they are holding such an event in Portsmouth as well. I'm thinking I will attend, because I care about my country and its future and I love America, I just love it, so I don't want it wrecked by anyone thinking they can install a King or whatever here, or hold an election where only the President gets to vote by mail-in ballot, or where people who don't care about maintaining the dignity and lawfulness of our government seem to have taken over many important tasks.

And we are at War right now. Not saying whether it's a good War or a bad War because, as all old guys like myself often realize when looking back at the past of the American Nation, sometimes we need to go to war, sometimes it's been a completely wrong thing, but nobody will ever convince me that a War can be Good because it can't.

People, good people, children among them, always get killed.

So I'm remembering that today, even as I'm thinking NO KINGS would be a good slogan for all of the nations of the World. Not just ours.
