Winter St Cemetery Veterans Display

Free map of Revolutionary graves courtesy of Exeter DAR

(RM Allen)

In honor of Veterans week, free maps of Revolutionary War soldiers, surgeons and more graves are available on the post of the new "America 250!" commemorative sign at the Front St. gate of the historic Winter Street Cemetery. This map is a gift from the Exeter Chapter of the DAR.

The NH State Daughters of the American Revolution unveiled this sign in a solemn ceremony witnessed by over 200 people. The sign honors the contributions of all Black soldiers and sailors from NH involved in struggle for US independence, which actually began in the two years leading up to 1776.

Professional photographers captured the day on film, from the costumed SAR color guard to the playing of taps, and you may see the gallery of over 70 photos here. https://nhsodar.smugmug.com/Ho...
