WMUR Employee Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

Police: Christopher Murphy of East Kingston was arrested on six counts yesterday. He will be arraigned in court today.

EAST KINGSTON, NH — A local man employed by the state's largest television station was arrested yesterday on child pornography charges after an investigation by the ICAC Task Force, according to police. Christopher Murphy, 44, of Willow Road in East Kingston, was arrested on Sept. 14, 2016, on six counts of possession of child abuse images.

Murphy was arrested and held in lieu of bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Brentwood District Court today.

“This search and arrest was the culmination of a joint investigation by the East Kingston Police Department, and the ICAC Task Force,” according to Chief Tim Connell of the East Kingston Police Department, who posted the arrest of Facebook.

Participating Task Force agencies for this case were the Hudson, Portsmouth, Salem, Mont Vernon, and Hampton police departments, as well as the US Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing, and further future charges are possible,” he noted.

Salem Police noted on Facebook that they had two detectives working on the case and also posted a screenshot of the arrest.


Murphy, according to WMUR-TV, works in the sales department at the station. He was previously the station’s webmaster. He has been suspended, pending the outcome of the case.
