Woman Driving Wrong Way on 101 Leads to Crash

Carrie Tremblay of Litchfield arrested by state police on multiple charges; Exeter man transported to the hospital.

The New Hampshire State Police were called a serious motor vehicle accident last night on Route 101 that sent an Exeter man to the hospital and a Litchfield woman into the custody of troopers.

At around 10:30 on Feb. 19, 2015, troopers started receiving calls about a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lane by Exit 11 in Stratham.

The vehicle, a Honda CR-V, continued along the highway, driving the wrong way, through Exeter and into Brentwood.

“The vehicle crashed into another vehicle at Exit 8, continued westbound almost colliding with a NH State Police cruiser, then collided with the Jersey barrier between Exits 7 and 8 coming to a final rest,” according to Sgt. Steven Cooper.

The victim of the vehicle that was hit at Exit 8, a 34-year-old Exeter man, was taken to Exeter Hospital.

Carrie Tremblay, 34, of Litchfield, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, felony reckless conduct, reckless operation, vehicular assault, conduct after an accident, and one-way driving.

The roadway was closed for about an hour. Brentwood Police and Fire and Rescue teams assisted troopers at the scene.
