$18.M Awarded For Drinking Water, Wastewater, And Other NH Projects

Bedford, Hampton, Portsmouth orgs and communities, as well as others, will receive grants and loans from the state and federal governments.

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, after approval by the governor and Executive Council, is awarding more than $18.5 million for water projects.

The funds will be coming from a combination of sources in the form of both grants and loans. Funding, according to the state, will come from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan programs. The department will spend about $120 million for around 250 projects which are in the process of finalizing their proposals to NHDES for submission.

Hampton will receive a $100,000 grant for clean water planning. Henniker, Laconia, Seabrook, the Winnipesaukee River Basin Program in Franklin, and the Mascoma Valley Cooperative, Inc. in Canaan will receive loans and-or grants.

The town of Bedford is receiving $1.5 million in a grant for PFAS remediation, while the Aquarion Water Company in Hampton is receiving about $1.8 million via two grants.

The city of Portsmouth is receiving $210,000 in grant funds for wastewater and stormwater asset management, while Swanzey is receiving funds for wastewater asset management, and Plymouth is receiving funds for stormwater asset management.

The city of Claremont and Autumn Woods in Derry are receiving loans and grants for drinking water infrastructure.
