North Hampton Farm Brewery Brings Back Wood-Fired Finnish Sauna This Fall

NORTH HAMPTON, NH — A wood-fired Finnish sauna experience has returned to Throwback Brewery's working farm in North Hampton.

Skog & Stone Sauna Company and the brewery said the seasonal offering brings outdoor sauna sessions to the farm through a partnership that debuted earlier.

The experience is an outdoor sauna ritual rooted in nature and community, followed by food and drinks at the brewery. Guests can use the wood-fired sauna on the farm and then head into the pub afterward. The companies said the format reflects sauna culture in Nordic countries and noted that similar sauna-and-beer pairings are gaining traction in the United States.

"We hope this winter gives people a real reason to spend more time outside and in nature, even when it's cold," Annette, co-owner of Throwback Brewery, said. "There's something special about sweating it out on a farm, under the sky, and then coming inside to warm up with your friends. That's the experience we want people to have here."

Throwback is also brewing a sauna beer in collaboration with Blue Ox Malthouse. The beer is being crafted for what the announcement calls the post-sauna ritual.

"We wanted a beer that felt like the natural finish to a sauna session, something you'd want in hand as you cool down and catch up with friends," Nicole, co-owner of Throwback Brewery, said. "Sauna is such a great fit for what we value at Throwback - getting people outside, connecting with each other, and finding ways to enjoy the farm in every season."

Skog & Stone said it will offer private and community sessions at Throwback. Private sessions let guests reserve the sauna for their own group, including family, friends, coworkers, corporate team outings and offsites, according to the announcement. Community sessions allow guests to book individual spots and share the sauna with others.

"I'm excited to bring an experience that so many people only associate with travel or vacation right here to our own community, so that sauna lovers don't have to go far to find that same authentic ritual," Prince Boateng, founder of Skog & Stone Sauna Company, said. "Throwback has been the perfect partner for that, because they already understand hospitality and community. Pairing our sauna with their farm, their food, and now their own sauna beer makes for something genuinely special this season."
