Music School Offering Free Drum Class

Music Makers will be offering a free drum class for all ages and levels on Thursday, April 18th, at 6:00pm.  The class will be held in the performance room at Music Makers, 18 Lafayette Road, in North Hampton.  Drum Instructor, Derek Hayden, will demonstrate a variety of drumming styles, and will work with students to assess their level and offer practicing tips.

Derek is completing his music education and percussion performance degree at UMASS Lowell where he is the top musician in his department.  He performs professionally
throughout the region, not only in rock and jazz ensembles, but also in orchestral settings where he plays marimba and percussion.  Derek has spent a season touring with Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps and is highly experienced in marching styles.  He is a gifted and enthusiastic teacher who can connect with students of any age, level, and genre.  

Derek is not only a brilliant rock and jazz drummer, but is also an amazing marimba specialist and has extensive experience in symphonic settings. He is a gifted teacher who is endlessly enthusiastic - he can connect with and motivate any learner! From drum set to percussion accessories and mallets, every potential drummer is in for some excellent training!
