Area Mourns Pease Greeter, Hampton Resident

Theresa "Terry" Anne Vitagliano, 74, loving wife of Edward A. Vitagliano of Hampton and Boca Raton, FL passed away at home in Hampton with loving family by her side on Tuesday, March 06, 2012 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mrs. Vitagliano, born in Nashua, NH on May 24, 1937, the daughter of the late Edgar and Rachel (Beaudet) Lozeau.

Terry was a devoted wife and mother who loved the Lord, singing and Bible study. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining her family and providing a welcoming home for all. She married Donald R. Marquis and they had seven children. Terry and Donald enjoyed many happy years together until his death in 1992.
She married her husband Edward A. Vitagliano in 2000. She and Edward shared many years of joy and traveling. Their most memorable trips were to Arizona, Israel and Italy.

Theresa loved her role as a stay-at-home Mom. She was a member of UNH Extension and enjoyed enhancing her homemaking and creative skills. She was a very active member of St. Francis Xavier Church of Nashua and took a strong active roll in opposition of the closing of the church. She taught 7th Grade Religious Education and became the assistant teacher in the Confirmation Program.

She was a member of the choir, joining in 1985 during their 100th anniversary year and remained with the choir until the church closed in 2002. She also sang in the Choir for the Homeless to raise money for homeless in the area and participated in the yearly Christmas concert sponsored by Franklin Pierce College. She and her husband Edward were active members of their parishes, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Hampton and St. Jude Parish in Boca Raton. They were members of the choir in each parish and participated with the St. Jude Parish Choir of Boca Raton at Walt Disney World for the Christmas Pageant Event.

Terry and Edward were also active members of the Pease Greeters in Portsmouth, NH, greeting US Troops going and coming back from overseas duty. She was a member of the Board of Registrars for the City of Nashua for 20 years and was a familiar face at the Amherst St. School polling facility at election time. She worked for Network 2000, a marketing company that sold US Sprint phone cards and worked for JC Penney as a Sales Representative from 1993-2000.

In addition to her loving husband Edward, Theresa is survived by six sons and five daughters-in-law: Dr. Stephen J. Marquis and his wife Lynn of Appleton, WI, John C. Marquis and his wife Wendy of Webster, NH, James R. Marquis and his wife Lisa of Hollis, NH, Thomas P. Marquis and his wife Maria of Nashua, NH, David D. Marquis and his partner Walter Houchen of Boca Raton, FL, and Edward M. Vitagliano and his wife Diane of Pontotoc, MI; three daughters and three sons-in-law: Michelle A. Marquis Martin and her husband Shawn Martin of Bedford, NH, Nina Martin and her husband Steve of Coppell, TX, and Kathy Hermick and her husband Major Shawn of Seattle, WA; and eighteen grandchildren: Matthew J. Lee of Merrimack, NH, Dr. Anthony J. Marquis of Milwaukee, WI, Julia Katherine Marquis and her fiancé Nathan Miller of McHenry, IL, Timothy E. Marquis of Ames, IA, Erik Surabian of Manchester, NH, Kristen Surabian of Webster, NH, Erin Rachel Marquis of Hollis, NH, Jillian Michelle Marquis of Nashua, NH, Katherine Taylor Clark of Nashua, NH, Michael James Marquis of Hollis, NH, Rachel Rose Marquis of Hollis, NH, Lyndsay Gassaway and her husband Joe of Ponotoc, MI, Edward “Tony” A. Vitagliano of Pontotoc, MI, Whitney Mitchell of Coppell, TX, David Mitchell of Coppell, TX, Sgt James E. Glendening, US Marine Corps, Morgan Glendening, US Air Force, and Kristin Glendening of Seattle, WA.

She is also survived by her brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in- law; Arthur C. Lozeau and his wife Jean of St. James, NY, Richard Lozeau and his wife Ann of Maynard, MA, Angelina “Kiki” Marquis of Hampton, Annette Swartz and her husband Melvin of Ipswich, MA and Judy McPherson and her husband Ron of Gilmington Ironworks, NH.

Theresa loved all of her nieces and nephews: Diane Gorman of Hampton, D. Charles and Carolyn Marquis of FL, Audrey Hager and her husband Ron of NV, Jeffrey Lozeau of Nashua, Stephanie Shumaker and her husband Adam of Washington, DC, Kimberley Kaufmann and her husband Michael of St. James, NY, and Stacey McFarland and her husband Matthew of Stony Brook, NY, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of loving friends.

She was also predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Marie Marquis, a brother, Ronald Lozeau and her Aunt Jeannette G Beaudet who Terry lovingly cared for and cherished.

Visiting hours will be from 5 – 8 PM on Thursday, March 8, 2012 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial is scheduled for 2 PM on Friday following the Mass in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, 32 Pine Hill Ave., Nashua, NH. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
