Body Found in Water Near Hampton River Marina

UPDATE: NH State Police investigators have identified the body of a man found in Hampton. Foul play is not suspected.

HAMPTON, NH — A man was found last night in the water near the Hampton River Marina in Hampton, according to the New Hampshire State Police. The man was found at around 7 p.m. on May 9, 2017. The man was transported to Exeter Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Lt. McLain of the NHSP Marine Patrol.

On May 12, the body was identified as Jeff Wright, 48, of Strafford.

“Although investigation is ongoing, foul play is not suspected at this time,” McLain noted.

Assisting agencies at the scene included the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Hampton Police and Fire Departments, and New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol. An autopsy is being performed to find out the cause of death, according to state police.

Wright, according to posts online, owned an alarm service company in the town.
