Bruins Won’t Play NH Surfers in Cancer Charity Game This Year
Locals won't get a chance to see the hockey legends lace them up on the Seacoast this year for a child cancer charity game.
The fourth annual Molly Fund charity hockey game between the Boston Bruins alumni team and local surfers won’t be held this year, breaking a string of successful fundraisers for a Hampton-based charity focused on helping children fight cancer.
Buck Rowlee, the father of Molly Rowlee, the inspirational namesake for which the child cancer charity is named, said the decision was made “not run the game this year and focus on executing every other year in order to keep the momentum strong.”
Attendance had dipped in the second and third years of the game, although hundreds still turned out last year — the third year of the event — and helped raise enough money that Buck Rowlee declared it as the "best yet."
