A New Beginning in Concord

Our new State Legislation was sworn in today (December 5). Newly elected State Representative Chris Muns provides a brief recap on the day's activities and launches his blog.

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

It was my honor today to stand in Representatives Hall in our State Capitol in Concord to take the oath of office as one of YOUR state representative.  To those of you who voted for me:  thank you again for this honor!  To those of you who may not have voted for me, I pledge to serve as your state representative as well.

The "tone" of our session today was very positive and collegial; with a real focus on working together to address our state's challenges.  No one believes that Republicans and Democrats will agree on everything, but I believe we are all committed to making sure that the debates that we do have our civil and respectful.

We elected Terie Norelli as our Speaker and Terie appointed Gene Chandler as the Republican Leader and Stephen Shurtleff as the Democratic Leader.   Committee Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons will be appointed in the weeks ahead, following by the assignment of state representatives to those committees.  I hope to know which committee I will serve on by the first of the year.

The House is now in recess until January 2, when we return to begin to do the people's work. That starts with putting together a balanced budget for the next two years.

I plan to keep you informed of our work in the state house via regular posts to this blog.   I will also be checking it for your feedback and input.   I also hope that this site can serve a place where concerned citizens in Hampton can voice and exchange ideas amongst each other.

Happy Holidays to one and all.
