Friends of North Hampton Public Library Support Encouraging Town Participation in the Upcoming Charette and Supporting The Library

On behalf of the Friends of the North Hampton Public Library we hope that the citizens of North Hampton will come out in support of our Library at the June 14th Charrette being held at historic North Hampton Town Hall.  At this meeting there will be in-depth discussions on what to do with the various buildings and institutions that comprise the North Hampton town complex.  It is the belief of the Trustees/Directors of the Library that the parcel of land known as the Homestead Property, which is located just west of the current location, would be an ideal place to construct a new library.

The current building is no longer an adequate solution to serve the needs of our community.  Through warrant articles and private support the town has raised over $500,000 toward a new facility that will provide a modern building where our town citizens can enjoy, in comfort, all that the library has to offer.  A new facility will provide even more services to our town while still giving us a place to study, research, read and relax.  Our library is one of the only institutions in town that serves the breadth of our community.  From toddler story time to our senior citizens, the whole town has the opportunity to enjoy the many services the library provides.

Over the past ten years, the town has initiated several studies and spent tens’ of thousands of dollars to determine how the town complex should be laid out.  The Trustees/Directors of the Library believe it is time to act now and establish the Homestead Property as the new location of our library.  We again encourage the citizens of North Hampton to please attend the Charrette on June 14th at 3:30 pm (or 6:30 pm) in the Historic North Hampton Town Hall.  And if you cannot attend the Charrette, we encourage you to send a letter or e-mail to our Town Administrator, Paul Apple expressing your thoughts about the Library and all municipal buildings and their relationship to the town complex and surrounding neighborhood (papple.northhampton-nh.gov).  Thank you for your support and consideration.
