Happy New Year from State Rep. Chris Muns

Muns will serve on the Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee and hold open office hours in Hampton on Jan. 12.

Happy Holidays!

I trust that you had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukah or whatever holiday you might celebrate this time of year with your family and friends and are taking these next few days to rest, reflect on 2012 and look forward to 2013.   Happy New Year!

As I look back on 2012, I want to once again thank you for the honor of electing me to serve as one of your state representatives in Concord.   I was sworn in along with the rest of my colleagues on December 5 and am now looking forward to the first “working session” of the New Hampshire House of Representatives’ 2013 Session on Wednesday, January 2.

As work begins, I am committed to providing you with regular updates on the work that I will be doing on your behalf in Concord.    I also want to hear from you on issues that are important to you.  It is very important to me that there is an effective two-way conversation taking place between us.

To that end, do not hesitate to send me an email to my new state representative’s email address:  chris.muns@leg.state.nh.usIf you do, please include the words “Constituent Inquiry” in the subject line; this will help call attention to your note, so that I can get back to you as quickly as possible.

In addition, on Saturday January 12 from 10:00 AM to Noon at the Hampton Lane Memorial Library, I will be conducting open “office hours.”  If you have any issues that you would like to discuss with me, please stop by; I will be there to meet with anyone who wants to show up on a first come first served basis.  Hopefully, this is something that I will be able to do regularly.

Much of my work – certainly in the next several months – will take place in the committee to which I have been assigned.   I will be serving on the Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee which is responsible for State Banking Laws, Insurance (including implementation of the federal Affordable Care Act), Consumer Protection, Liquor Licenses and “all matters relating to the economic development of the state.”   I am told that the committee will be reviewing at least 60 new bills that have been submitted and I have already been advised that I should plan on being in Concord every Tuesday and Thursday for committee meeting during the next couple of months.

If you are interested in doing so, you can keep track of what the House and each of its committees is doing by reviewing the weekly House Calendars and Journals at http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/house/caljourns/default.htm

Thank you again and have a safe and happy new year’s celebration.

 Chris Muns

State Representative-Rockingham District 21 (Hampton)
