Hundreds Turn Out for Annual Easter Egg Dig

Sandy surprises awaited participants at this year's dig.

of all ages gathered on Hampton Beach the morning of Saturday, March 31, to take part in the annual Easter Egg Dig, hosted by the Hampton Recreation Department.

“It was another well attended Easter Egg Dig,” confirmed René Boudreau, program coordinator for Hampton Recreation.

Equipped with their pails and shovels, children ages 12 and under came prepared to dig into the sand to find their share of thousands of hidden plastic eggs, each one with a surprise inside.

Also waiting to be discovered were five gold eggs, which brought each lucky winner their choice of a special prize, ranging from “Angry Birds” Easter basket gifts, to a holiday arrangement made by Cookies by Design.

The Easter Bunny also made a special appearance, welcoming the crowd and sharing plenty of hugs and high-fives with his biggest fans.

Boudreau acknowledged the event’s sponsors, including Joyce Heal, Playland Arcade, Loco Sports, Cookies by Design, the town’s Recreation Advisory Council, and many helpful volunteers.

The popular event is one that Hampton families look forward to each year, and at least one enthusiastic father was heard to exclaim, “This was the best Easter egg hunt ever!”
