I will vote for Pres Obama

Wht I will vbote for Pres Obama

I will vote for President Obama in November for a 5 to 4 reason. That is the Republican majority on the US Supreme Court. 3 sitting justices are over 70 , Ginsberg, Breyer and Kennedy. The judicial selection process has become far too politicized in recent years. Remember the 2000 election was determined by just 1 vote of the Court. They stopped the Florida re-count. The next President will get shape the Court’s majority for a generation.

I also believe numbers do not lie, but liars can manipulate numbers.  Last week’s Presidential debate is a clear demonstration.  Gov Romney during the primary season, faced challenges from “Tea Party & Libertarian” Republicans candidates, he leaned far to the radical right. His selection of Paul Ryan for VP reinforces that position. What is his record? The US Dept of Labor tracks job growth, so we can learn that Ma under his leadership ranked 47th out of 50 states on job growth. We also can learn that Romney Care and Obama Care are quite similar, yet he wants to repeal Obama Care and replace it with what? We also learn that before he left office he replaced all his executive staff’s computers, even though he broke a lease to do so. The result is no email records and no way to reconstruct his thinking, planning and operations. As a Bain investment banker who makes decisions based on the hard numbers, employees are just another cost of doing business. If they can be replaced by robots or elsewhere in the world – do it!. He also believes it more important to continue the tax breaks for the oil and gas industry, than provide subsidies to students seeking higher education. He also claims he will balance the budget – HOW!! Zero out all defense spending of $700 billion dollars and you still need to cut $300 billion more.  The devil is in the details,  Where and what are his numbers? I suppose he can say “Trust Me”, but as Reagan used to say “Trust and Verify”.

Now President Obama spent his 1st year trying to build a bipartisan bridge across the aisle with Congress. He took office on 20 Jan 2009 and the GW Bush $1.4 trillion deficit budget of FY 2009 ran to 30 Sept 2009. When Ted Kennedy died on 8/25/2009 and a special election In January 2010 brought Scott Brown as his replacement. Remember the old filibuster, Senate rules require 60 votes to bring a bill to the floor. Without 60 votes is the new filibuster. Obama Care became law in 2010 only because the House under Pelosi’s leadership passed the bill and the Senate could bring it up as a reconciliation bill, which needs only 51 votes, not 60.

A final thought, Members of Congress take an oath of office to uphold the Constitution. Article 1 Section 8 states that “The Congress…to pay the debts…and to borrow money on the credit of the United States”.  The Republican led House on numerous occasions refused to raise the debt ceiling and threatened to shut the Government down when Obama tried to let the Bush tax cuts expire.

I hope and trust the voters on November 6 will realize the importance of this election and vote.
