'Merry Christmas' Isn't Offensive

The dreaded "C word" shouldn't be dreaded.

Just curious, why you can't say Merry Christmas anymore? I have never got upset when someone said Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or, for you Seinfeld fans, Festivus.

In today’s "politically correct" world instead of saying "Christmas lights," should I say "festive lights?" I think not!

I’ve always worked in places that had a variety of people with different religious backgrounds, including Muslim and Hindu co-workers, and no one seems to have been insulted.

Apparently the White House for the first time this year referred to Christmas trees as "holiday trees" in an effort not to offend. I can see President Barack Obama wanting to wish everyone a “Happy Christmahannakwanzikaa."

Please don’t be threatened if some say to you “Merry Christmas” — look at it as a way of saying we are all brothers and sisters during this holiday season.

So, if the Hampton Planning Board changes the zoning ordinance surrounding the in town I hope to see “Merry Christmas” along my travels on Route 1.
